The month of June was especially busy for us. Needless to say preschool was on the back burner and when we finally did preschool the kiddos were overly excited. Like all activities done in a hour excited....(what was I thinking, why didn't I spread it out all day long). But I am happy that we can pick up school again with this 4th of July theme for studying letter F.
Simple construction Paper Flags
Keeping it simple was key. I picked activities that would help us with using glue and better understanding patterns with the streamers. This one was harder for little sister but big brother helped her which is EXACTLY what this momma was hoping for! Supplies: Red, White and Blue construction paper Red ,White and Blue Ribbons or streamers Stapler Glue
Firework Glitter Pages
They liked this one the most! But glitter is ALWAYS messy, so do this activity outside. Again I wanted to work on glue skills and fine motor skills.

Teaching themes ideas for the letter P. The Little Man has been struggling to remember all his letters. So in my efforts to make some of the harder letters memorable, I thought we would share our adventures. Letter P themes: Pancakes: With this theme you can read books like Give a Pig a Pancake, and Pancakes, Pancakes by Eric Carle. For sensory play, together you can make pancakes and have the kids POUR their own pancakes and of course eat them too. This will cover math (measuring out ingredients) and life skill of pouring as well as following directions. Talk about other breakfast food and where it comes from. Imaginary play can be play cooking and even restaurant. Pirates: With this theme you can develop tracing skills with maps and of course going on your own pirate adventure to follow the map to buried treasure. Using paper towel rolls make your own telescopes and find the Letter P's hidden around the room. Sensory of digging for things in dirt or sand bin. Taking the Pirate theme further you can explore things that sink or float. Count your pirate coins and using a grid on your map for older kids will help in include math. Real treasure.net has some great maps. Click here for printable. Pizza: Of course I include another opportunity to cook and for my kiddos to create a disaster! Make pizza, which includes life skills of following directions, mixing and pouring and rolling out the dough. Have the kids choose what kinds of things they want on their pizza and while it is baking talk about the different shapes that can be found on a pizza. Make dough play-dough to continue the sensory play where you can cut out different shapes or make the letter P. Count the different ingredients for the pizza for math and pretend play your own pizza restaurant. Grow your own herb garden to show where pizza gets its flavor. Click here for printable. Police: Start with making your own traffic lights of red, yellow and green, as well as your own stop signs. Have them trace their hands and stamp their own finger prints. Talk about mixing colors on graham crackers to make your own editable traffic lights. Get out the bicycles and playing police man with your own tickets to write out for unsafe behavior. Create your own police badge and talk about how policemen and women keep us safe. Post Office: This theme can go far! But here are a few ideas we have done. Count stamps, or count up cost to mail packages for math. Pretend play post office and deliver mail. Make your own letter and stamps using different shapes and colors. Visit the local post office or check the real mail box at home. I am going to stop here and ask what you would do to go along with the post office theme? Comment below to share ideas.
