Our recent moving experience, had me on the phone with several companies changing plans for a different state. At the same time I decided to look into other companies to make sure that we were still getting the best plan and best price tag along with it. Boy, I am glad I did! Check for cheaper car insurance: moving to a different state hiked up our insurance 6 month premium. So I did some shopping and found a policy with a different company that saved us $96 every 6 months without sacrificing or going down in coverage. Don't switch car insurances often, as it will hurt your credit score and your rate. Check for cheaper internet: Different areas offer different plans and speeds and prices. We went with a no contract option because we knew that we would be moving for an internship soon. Check for cheaper phone plan: Sometimes with auto pay we just forget, leaving our plan sometimes run itself. It pays your pocket book to check to see if current plans are worth taking a look or even switching to a different company. I did and got more data but saved 15 dollars more a month. Check for cheaper renters insurance: When I went to change addresses our rate increased as well to $186 a year. Since it is required by the landlords, I went with a different company got a way cheaper price $115 a year. Saving us 71 dollars a year, again every penny counts. Bundling with your car insurance or other insurance often can reduce the price as well. These things might not matter if you have parents paying for them but cutting cost with help you not have to take out bigger loans and are good habits to have even if you are out in the work force.
